PND first developed the Gunderboom® to function as a silt
containment curtain during dredging operations. The boom's
application has since been extended to include oil spill
and biological contaminant. Fabricated of absorbent geotextile
material, the boom features variable-depth construction
and it has performed successfully in the face of severe
wind and tidal conditions. The Gunderboom® was utilized to
protect hatcheries during 1989's disastrous Exxon Valdez
spill in Prince William Sound, and it is currently being
deployed off the eastern coast of the United States to create
safe offshore swimming pools in areas inundated with various
