Many of Alaska’s major bridges were designed by PND
principals. The firm designs bridges of many sizes and
types including cable stayed, arch, plate girder, box girder,
orthotropic, prestressed and post tension concrete, trusses
and specialty bridges including move-able, floating and
pedestrian. They have included some of the world’s
strongest, for use in supporting oilfield modules on the
North Slope of Alaska, often weighing several thousand
tons. PND specializes in bridges and foundations in some
of the world’s more inhospitable conditions such
as extreme cold; permafrost; thick river, lake and ocean
ice; up to 40 foot tides; severe earthquakes; and a wide
variety of soils.
