Cost of Work: $2 million
PND and Jesse Engineering were selected by the Port of Seattle
to design and build a Passenger Boarding Gangway to facilitate
the boarding of passengers onto the cruise ships using the
Terminal 30 Cruise Facility in Seattle, Washington.
Key Features included in the design:
• Temporary system can be moved to accommodate future operations.
• Accommodates uneven dock surfaces.
• Adjusts vertically with user input for the changing tide
levels.
• Screw jacks provide safe and reliable vertical lifting
system.
• Capable of accessing vessel doors from approximately
+5.5 feet to +34.5 above dock.
• Fully covered walkways.
• Prefabrication and shop testing minimized erection time.
"This
is by far the simplest and most cost efficient gangway
system that I have encountered in my career.
Everyone that I have talked to has similar comments.
I suppose one of the most telling praises came from the
operators, a group that has a history of being very critical
of any design. In this case they made it a point to tell
our management that "this is the best system we
have ever used". I believe this one comment sums
it up!"
