Client: Cruiseline Agencies of Alaska
Owner: Cruiseline Agencies of Alaska
Cost of Work: $5 million
The City of Juneau, Alaska received a
new cruise ship dock for the 2004 cruise ship season. The
new floating dock provides improved passenger transit compared
to traditional fixed docks that are typical in the area.
ACC Hurlen Construction, along with design engineer PND
Incorporated, provided design and construction for this
project.
Close coordination
between Cruiseline Agencies of Alaska, ACC Hurlen, and PND
allowed the design, material acquisition, and construction
to be completed in time for the first cruise ship of the
season. The design/build work was completed in five months
from the notice-to-proceed.
The use of the innovative
SPIN FIN® pile tips provided cost and time savings to this
project by providing necessary pile capacities with significantly
lower pile embedment than typical pile types in the very
soft marine sediments at the project site. |
