Hard Hat Award

Most usually bestowed upon a contractor, the Hard Hat Award is considered AGC’s most prestigious award. Nottingham was cited for a distinguished engineering career and the design of structures from the North Slope to South America. The AGC noted that Nottingham has pioneered the development of construction technologies and procedures that have benefited the petroleum, mining and construction industries in Alaska and throughout the world.

Nottingham said he has always considered the award a highlight of AGC’s annual event and admired past winners. This year, the winner was introduced as being from Montana. “I wondered whether it was someone I knew,” he said. “When people started looking at me, my knees turned weak and I was speechless. I cannot describe what this recognition means to me coming from an industry of my peers.”
